Health issues and mould

I have lived in a council flat for six years, throughout this time I have always had problems with mould. In the bedrooms, kitchen and in the storage cupboards. I constantly clean this with mould spray, keeping it well ventilated and not putting clothes on the radiator to dry. The council have been out and telling me to keep doing what I am doing. They have fitted dampness vents. However throughout all this I have thyroid problems, inability to concentrate, headaches and asthma. My four year old daughters eczema keeps flaring up and is constantly unwell. Who would be able to test the mould to see if its toxic? So I could rule this out as a cause or contributory factor.

Mold is always toxic, so exposure should be limited, for both yourself and your 4 yr old.  Have you tried cleaning the areas with a solution of chlorine bleach which actually kills mold?

From all my research, I can't find a definite scientific link between mold and thyroid conditions.

You should also check the spray you're using to clean the mold, in relation to your daughter's eczema - she may be allergic to it - but gimel is right...  do have her thyroid checked as well.

Can't tell you anything about the mold.  I just wanted to ask if your thyroid problems were related to having Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is the main cause for diagnosed hypothyroidism?  If so, Hashi's tends to be hereditary so I wondered about your daughter, since you mentioned eczema, which is sometimes related to hypothyroidism.
