I had hyperthyroidism and Graves and had the thumping heart too.
I was dx at birth with Rhuematic Fever and a heart murmur which up until 3 years ago was 'innocent'.
They then found Graves Disease and Mitral Valve and Tricuspid Valve Prolapse.
This wasnt picked up by a stethoscope.....but by a Doppler ultrasound.
Get an ultrasound done.
It did all kinds of crazy things. The worst was the pounding in my ears at night, like I had a drummer boy in my head.
EVERY time I went to ER and they put me on the heart monitor, it all looked fine. I thought I was going crazy!
Anxiety is a big part of the hyper swing. I got that along with the racing heart. Too much thyroid hormone made me NUTS.

I don't have mvp that I know of. My doc has listened to my heart and didn't hear anything abnormal. And my heart seems to be beating a little "weaker" I guess when this happens. It's not pounding.
And Tamra, thanks again for your input! You had told me that your heart raced but I didn't know it was in the middle of the night. Did it skip beats too? Then again mine has been skipping for as long as I can remember and anxiety just aggravates it.
We have spoken about Hashi symptoms before and I urged you to get your mom and doctor to test your TGab and TPOab levels and to get a thyroid ultrasound.
Hashimoto's causes hypothyriodism...eventually, but along the way we swing from hyper to hypo. Hashi weakens our immunities, making us get colds more frequently. Since taking thyroid hormone, I've been much more healthy and no more waking up in the middle of the night with a racing heart because the hormone shrunk my nodules, which were leaking out the extra thyroid hormone.
I hope the doc will work with you in discovering the cause of your racing heart, but in the meantime, you should know that Hashimoto's does cause your symptoms.

Do you have mvp? I do and mine does this too, but I also have hyper thyroid.. Does your bood pressure go up when this happens also?
Yoga may help if you want to stay in shape.
But it's not that I want to just blame everything on thyroid. This is just one of the things that started along with my symptoms almost a year ago and I had just chalked it up to anxiety. And as my symptoms have gotten worse since I started exercising (I pushed myself a little too hard last week) this also has. But again, it could be related to the illness....it's all so confusing. I wish my body could just tell me what's wrong with it when something does go wrong.
