There is no harm in pursuing alternative medicines and in some cases they are better than pharmacutical medicines as most medication given by doctors have side effects some up to 5 for one medication and on more than one you can be in a whole heap of trouble that is why you must tell your doctor of any medication that you are on. A lot of pharmacutical medications have been withdrawn after some very nasty side effects so anything that you take you must be carefully administered and monitored and please do your research on the side effects of any.
We have had new hospitals set up here in australia with a holistic approach because of a lot of publicity a doctor with a brain tumor and a famous singer that had breast cancer created said that medicine alone does not do a complete job. Medicines will alleviate some of the symptoms and pain but in in most case you have to take them for the rest of your life with the added problem of side effects (go to any medication you have in your cabinet and you will find a list of possible side effects) just as with natural medicine you may have some side effect but they will not work instantly as start from building your body up to help repair itself with some support for the immediate problem so please do not be put off pursuing natural medicine along with mainstream medicine just keep everyone fully advised even yourself.
Don't worry, i don't think i will even find out what it all entails. Your reply was enough for me to stay away.
Thanks.
Be careful on this one. Just based on where I live and what I've been told...
Due to licensing, a homeopathic doctor's medical practice is limited in what testing, diagnosis and treatment they can provide. Perhaps it's like this where you live and you'd want to check that out before going to one.
Actually, it is my understanding there is no medical license for this kind of medicine, a practitioner of it is actually a doctor with a license in something else - like chiropractic medicine. The care you get could be compromised by that, i.e., if you need a script for certain necessary blood work, this kind of doctor might not be licensed to write it.
Honestly, it's a precarious situation that seems too risky when dealing with thyroid. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you not to pursue it, but only that it's something you need to be fully aware of before doing so.
To continue what I said above...not only is there a school for herbalism not far from me, there are also a couple of schools that teach natural healing. Those around me know what they speak.
Have you guys ever heard of a homepathic doctor? My sister was trying to explain to me that they can work wonders. I have yet to even research it.
I was advised to take kelp tablets for the natural iodine they contain but I only took it for 4 weeks and then only every 4 days from a herbalist and it is a standard off the shelf tablet from any supermarket.I am on no other medication so I didn't have to worry about compatibility. I had felt like I had legs of jelly after work and would be bone tired. After a week of taking this and a iron/calcium tablet the same I felt on top of the world and had very little other symptoms so don't know if it was the iron/calcium or the kelp.
It is most importantly do not take anything unless you check with your alternative medic or the doctor especially if you are on other medication. bestest
Hi, be careful what kind of herbs you take because I know you have to be careful when you've got thyroid problems and it would be wise to check with your doctor before you self medicate.
I'm glad you added that! Who knows what your daughters might have gone through. You just really have to be informed, don't you. I guess that's where a main stream dr comes in handy.
That is kind of like the time I almost gave my daughters Echinacea to boost their immune system only to find out their allergist told me it comes from the root and is a derivative of ragweed AND they are very allergic to ragweed and are asthmatic, too! Can you imagine if I fed them this daily !!!!

When I first found out there was something going on, my initial thought was to head to the health food store and find out which herbs could help. I never got there and later found out that was a good thing. Not only are there no herbs for this but taking them and other otc formulas can actually mask what’s going on and complicate things. That info came from more then one person completely into this subject – a school for herbalism is not far away.
My endo’s office asks that you let them know of any herbs you're taking, even if it’s for something else.
Be careful and good luck.
What specific blood tests did you have?
I was tested, also several xrays. Everything ok they said, But still i trimble, tried, and big knot on left side neck. I did talk Dr. out 30 Levothyroxine 50 mg.. Knot gone but I am still in bad shape. The knots comes and goes...
HAve you been tested lately? and what test did you have done? DO you have the results?
Give you thyroid history.
Not really sure of the alternative methods .... Cheryl
