Thanks Guy, its does seem to affect me too i get drunk a lot guicker and not a nice feeling the next day bad hang overs so i have slowed right down but i might just stop all togeather if i am going to feel like this shame i like a nice few glasses of red oh well how life changes
Actually it does reduce the amount it produces if you drink often enough.
I drink whenever I feel like it and it doesn't seem to have any effect on my thyroid labs. I'm not sure it would actually reduce the amount of hormones the thyroid produces, but we figure mine doesn't produce anything any more, so it really doesn't matter.
Of course, moderation is always the key.
I stopped drinking when I discovered I had thyroid issues. I noticed that alcohol was effecting me differently than prior to having thyroid woes. I recently had a glass of wine with dinner and the effects of the wine seem to bring on a bit of a headache and the next day I felt like I had a bit of brain fog. I have never had my thyroid tested after having alcohol. But alcohol is a depressant and can effect the amount of hormone the thyroid produces. So if you are HYPOthyroid it's probably best that you not drink alcohol. I was hyperthyroid and I already felt like a nut case and alcohol seemed to make me feel even worse off, so not sure that it would be a win-win situation being HYPERthyroid as well. But alcohol effects everyone differently.
