Hyperthyroid - Any medication question

Hi,
I was just wondering, if a hyperthyroid individual system, speeds up, will taking any medication work faster, then normal ??

For example if a normal person took Tylenol sinus, and it took 1 hour for the system to absorb, a hyperthyroid person takes the same med, will the med absorb 10-15 minutes (faster) work faster then normal.

Reason I ask, my system rejects alot of meds, or intensify thyroid symptoms.  Such as if a med can cause heart racing, meds with Pseudoephedrine, if I take it, within 15 minutes my heart is pounding up a storm, 180 bpm,.  I'll ask normal people that take the same meds, and they say they don't experience heart racing, and if they do, they are mild, and not intense like mine.

Just curious if anyone would know.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for reply.  I agree, nasal irrigation does work great !!  I use Neilmed, cleared my allergies & nostrils right up.  But occassionally I get bad sinus headache/pressure, which Tylenol sinus relieved.

I'll give Advil sinus a try, when pressure flares up.

I have found sinus irrigation works well to control sinus and allergy problems.  I use the Sinus Rinse method from NeilMed.  It works great.

Admittedly, I was skeptical when my ENT suggested it, but once I got past the idea of purposely squirting water into my nose, I have to admit it works pretty well.

I also used Advil Cold/Sinus when my sinuses were bad.  It has a different active ingredient, which may not cause problems for you.  It might be worth a try.

Hi,
Thanks for reply & info.  My heart rate is normal to slow now.  But when I used to take Tylenol sinus, my heat rate would sky rocket within minutes, bad heart palps.  I've learned the hard way, not to take anything stimulating, especially sugar.

Now, I need to find something that will relieve allergy/sinus, non stimulating.  Tylenol used to work so well, but I can do without the heart palps.

Good luck to you & thanks !!

If you are hyperthyroid to start with, any form of medication that stimulates the heart will get yours going faster.
Advice I have always given to hypers (I was one once myself) is not to take any cold or flu medications unless you really have too.
Psuedoephrine (sp) is a stimulant for anyone but for Hypers...it will set your heart racing.
There are natural products and remedies that will do the same thing so I advise to stay away from any stimulants as much as possible.
I would also be asking your Doctor for a beta blocker if your heart rate gets that high.
Hope that helps.
