Hyperthyroidism without inflammation?

What is the likely cause of hyperthyroidism if there is no inflammation? My dr thinks I have postpartum thyroiditis but I think that would require inflammation. Also in Grave's Disease the thyroid is inflamed. Does anyone have any clue why I don't have inflammation or is there a common reason for hyperthyroidism where inflammation is not necessary for a diagnosis? I'm just feel like my endo is blowing me off and not taking me seriously so I want to have as much information as possible when I go in to my next appointment. Thanks.

antithyroid meds are pretty powerful. At least on that note so you know your not being steered wrongly with the meds.

Did you ask what a Graves patient looks like in his mind? - You keep mentioning that and I still don't know what he is thinking. armywife said the 2 things I had in my mind too on another post. = Bulging eyes or a skeleton or fat!

I think seriously, even though his bedside manners are awful - waiting and retesting would be OK. I am sure you feel anxious in more ways than one. Track your symptoms.

That's how I feel too. I just never know if I should just listen to my dr. because a lot of people seem to think that I overreact & I tend to be very distrusting when it comes  to any dr other than my midwife from when I was pregnant. I convinced the dr at my last appointment to prescribe methimazole but it's only 5mg once every other day so I don't even know if it's enough to do anything. He has just convinced himself that it's postpartum and that it will go away on it's own. He said he expects me to be hypo at next appointment. He says that I don't "look" like someone who has Grave's Disease. But, if I haven't had it very long then maybe that's why I don't "look" as he would expect. Not to mention that everyone has different symptoms for the same thyroid conditions anyway. It also seriously peeves me when he says that hyperthyroidism should make me full of energy and that my pure exhaustion must be from something else. I've read in many places that it can make you tired because your body is burning off all of the fuel it has to run off of so quickly. I'm just so confused & I just want to feel better. I don't think I care what it is that's wrong anymore as long as I can figure it out and treat it. He said he will retest ft3 and ft4 in a month and also run a CBC and full metabolic panel as well. Does it sound like I should just listen to him or do I know what I'm talking about a little bit? I won't be offended if you think I'm wrong. Everyone on here just has so much more knowledge than I do because I'm so new to it and I just feel desperate.

I think the doctor is throwing you a Dx w/out truly understanding the condition

I asked about graves vs. ppt but not about the inflammation part. I dont understand how my dr can say that I have postpartum THYROIDITIS if theres no inflammation at all.

I had no inflammation during my period of hyper.

only in postpartum hyperthyroid with thyroiditis will there be inflammation present.

Antibodies usually on the TPOab end will cause the swelling.
