Magnesium, magnesium, magnesium. Thyroid med tends to drain the body of magnesium. This mineral is food for your muscles, nerves and and very soothing for the brain when taken before bed. Helps tingling hands too.

There are many types of mag. The cheap kind at the drug store is mag oxide (read the back), it does nothing for you. You need mag- glycinate, -malate or -citrate.

Valerian root before bed also works. But do not take melatonin  - bad for thyroid hormones.

The above might not completely solve, but will help insomnia. I would also suggest testing FT3.

Your FT4 is at the half way point, but your FT3 is under half way. Low thyroid levels can cause anxiety. Most feel better with FT3 higher than FT4 and in the upper third of the range.

You might not convert the best and could possibly feel better with some synthetic T3 to take with your T4. Or at first, just try to get your doc to raise the T4 meds.

Do you have other hypo symptoms as well?  If you do its from the low T3, and you would have to ignore the TSH - might be a challenge to get a doctor to look at the frees and symptoms before the TSH.

400 - 800mg per day (night before bed time for sleep issues), away from thyroid meds, of magnesium. There is also a powdered mix in the US called CALM, popular at most vitamin stores - I'm sure there are other brands very similar. This should help some.

There is a special magnesium test called "Blood Cell Magnesium", like thyroid, it has a wide range.

Hello, Its me again, It is another symptom of thyroid disorder, it will come and go, that is the first symptom that forced me to see an MD, after two Md's that just tried to prescribe anti-depressants and told me to stop drinking coffee, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's by an Endocrinologist and he informed me that it was one of several symptoms of my thyroid disease, I alternate between Lunesta, and Benadryl. and when I feel right, nothing at all. I switch back and forth to avoid depending on either of them. My main problem was I would have no trouble going to sleep, I would sleep for maybe 3-4 hours, wake up and not be able to go back to sleep for another two hours, by then I would just get frustrated and stay up, although I would be tired all the time. Lunesta is expensive, My MD told me that the company offers a free copay up to 50.00 per month for the first 6 months, Well Good Luck Again FTB4
