TO: At The End of My Rope

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you, I am the lucky one I only had hahitoxicosis not cancer. I can only imagine the hell you and the others with the cancer diagnosis and treatments you have had to endure has went through, I only had RAI to ablate my thyroid so I would be easier to level out. Thyroid effects EVERY  cell , organ  and function in our bodies, NOTHING  is left untouched by thyroid problems of any sort. I've had thyroid issues for twenty years that have greatly effected my life, and I long since have forgotten what normal was, I am doing better after RAI it's helped level me out for now. Thyroid is a lifetime battle, whether it's been removed, nucked, or needs constant med adjustment. I do feel fortunate that the thyroid is treatable unlike many other conditions that are not, but it doesn't chamge the suffering, the worry or the many many symptoms that have to be endured everyday, or the lack of information and understanding we recieve from many who has not endured any kind of thyroid issues at all.  I just wanted to tell you, it is awful what you're going through, if you can find the positive and feel blessed  that it isn't something worse that is better for the depression and mental parts of it, it's like looking at the positive side of a disaster, it'll help you emotionally get through, but when you're feeling like **** it's difficult to see any positive, especially when no one seems to understand the agony you're going through.
Well just wanted to add my comment and to encourage youin this battle.
Pam

Yes my labs are getting done every month.Funny that you went to mayo clinic I am thinking of getting myself there.but I have had so many test's done I do not know if it would help or not.I am so scared of not really knowing ...it is so horrible.I wonder if I have hashimotos ?how is it diagnosed?Just find it weird that I have all these neuro symptoms.I feel better now that I do not have heart palps  after rai, but way way worse with neuro stuff can't win!! Oh by the way did you have mri and all the ms tests done at mayo??

How long did it take to start feeling better??

I was sent to mayo clinic in 1995, because my dr thought I had MS, nope it was hashimotos, later I also got Graves...It sounds like you're pretty hypo right now, hang in  there ...working and raising little ones with this is an extra exhauster. I am fortunaye m kids are 21 and 17 and I partner with my husband , we are painters so if I'm having a bad day I stay home, or go and do the easy stuff.
RAI has made me feel better not worse, not great but better. i was pretty depressed when I was hyper, then again when I went really hypo. The pain comes and goes, and the "insane" feeling has greatly diminished. Are you geting labs done quite often?

I can relate to every single word you have said.I have been ln a living hell since my rai treat for hyperthyroidism I am now left with horrible neuropathies ...tingling ,burning ,numbness, not to mention feeling like I am going completely insane and the depression is horrible.Hang in there !I have been suffering every day for 6 months and can barely take it any more. but I am trying to remain positive.which is really hard at times, especially when trying to raise small kids ,work and just trying to carry on with a normal life.I sometimes have myself convinced that I have a horrible debilitating disease like MS,because I feel so horrible.
