I am 5 weeks pregnant, just done my Thyroid test and found out my Free T3 is 2.5 pg/ml and Free T4 is 1.7 ng/dl and TSH is 17.7ulu/ml, which is relatively high (hypothyroiditis). I am on Eltroxin a dose of 150/ day for 2 years now since my thyroid operation, my doctor increased the dose to 200 per day after these readings, hopefuly number goes down in my next test.
my question, isn't too late? I mean working on adjusting the levels and watching it after the first 5 weeks (esspecially i read that 1st trimester is the most important one), isn't too late?

I afraid i have challenegs or risks transfered to my baby, especially after reading scary threads about this

Yes I am seeing a dr.I have been for almost 9 years. It started after the birth of my first son in2000. I originally had hypo then hyper and back and forth, they then come the the conclusion I had hosimotos. Some how after about 3 years i ended up beng hyper again but all along couldnt gain weight. After having my last son in oct 2007 i was tested and found i was needing another increase in my dose.it was put to 125mcg.2008 i suffered from idio something pancreatitis& an umbilical hernia(@ the same time). My levels started to go dwn but they keept me on the same dose.March my levels called for them to up my dose yet again im now on 225mcg, I have IBS and they say due to that and my dissolving colitis my body isnt absorbing all my meds. Can someone help me

Hi,

22 is too high.  however, it is good that you got tested.  I think they would put you on thryoid meds immediately and keep monitoring closely.

I'm presuming you're already on meds seeing they were testing before you got pregnant?  What dose do you take?

It is quite normal to have to increase thryoid meds by up to 40% (or even more for some women during pregnancy).

With high TSH there is a risk of miscarriage, but hopefully all will be fine with the treatment that you will now start.

When do you see your doctor again?  Have you talked to him about this already?  If you don't see him/her in the next couple of days, you need to contact your dr immediately for instructions and to start meds.

Let us know how you go.
