Over the past few years I have found I have had a hot nodule in my thyroid. I have been going to the doctor and having it watched. Had fine needle biopsies and timely monitoring. I recently, saw my endocrinologist who has be
monitoring my thyroid. All my tests have been in normal range. Last year I had a afib issue which put me in the hospital for conversion. This was successful. My hot shot heart doctor told me that it didn't have anything to do with my thyroid. So off I went and at the same time this year I had another a fib occurrence. Back in the hospital and back to conversion to a regular heart beat. Then a few days later I had another heavy afib occurrence. This time it was confirmed that the cause was most likely my thyroid. The Heart doctor wants to do a ablution of my heart but refuses before I have my thyroid removed. So clearly, your thyroid can cause heart problems. The heart doctor claims that any general surgeon can remove my thyroid. This concerns me.
Heres my question. What doctor is the best doctor to remove your thyroid? It is my understanding that this is a complicated surgery that can take hours and I very concerned. What would you be asking for and how to find
the right doctor for this task? I have to have it taken out as soon as possible. And currently, working out the details of getting this done.
I thank you in advance for your help.
