Joint Aches/Pains

For those of you suffering from really painful joint aches/pains, what do you do or take to alleviate the pain? I've been taking ibuprofen, but I'm wondering if anyone has done anything else, aside from take synthetic hormones, that has helped lessen the pain, since I'd prefer not to consistently take ibuprofen.

Also, tremoring--do I have to wait until I receive synthetic hormones to get rid of the constant shaking, or is there something that might help with this?

Thanks!

No problem, thanks for the update! I talked to my doctor about the pain and swelling, and was prescribed Meloxicam, 15mg per day (it's an NSAID). So far, it's reduced the pain a good amount, but there is still a good amount of aching and the swelling hasn't gone down much, from what I can tell. She said I could occasionally take ibuprofen along with Meloxicam if I really felt the need to. I do have some heating pads, so I'll try those as well.

Thanks again, everyone!

The name of the patches that helped me are called Well Patch Heat warming pads. Sorry I could not think of the name of them before.

For my back injury I have had more then 20 years ago the exercise and massage helped the most; for people with artritic like symptoms, aleeve (sp) is usally the strongest, but in long use any painrelievers may cause some dependancy.
The "Ice-hot" patch may help for shoulder/ lower back, hip pain.

There are air activated hot packs in different sizes that I have found are great for joint aches/pains. I can't think of the name of the brand I have used I think it is Med something. They do not have medicine in them and there are 3 in a orange color pack. They last about 8 hours and really have helped me.
