Microfollicular cell configuration, cancer or not?

I am 59 year old female with hx of hypothyroidism and thyroid nodule.  I was on 50mcg. generic synthroid (levothyroxine) for 16 months, recently increased to 75 mcg. with some resolution of symptoms of hypo (TSH, T3, T4 returned to normal 3 months after initially starting thyroid rx.)  Primary care MD found nodule, didn't recommend ultrasound or other diagnosis.  Saw an ENT MD for increasing allergic type symptoms, she felt nodule and recommended ultrasound.  It revealed a nodule over 1 cm in rt. lobe.  Fine needle aspiration was done and I just got copy of path report " many groups of follicular cells, mostly in macrofollicular pattern but some in microfollicular configuration.  Colloid is present in background.  This most likely represents a hyperplastic nodule but possibility of a follicular neoplasm cannot be excluded."  Although the pathologist mentions there is colloid present (which I understand is a good thing) they don't elaborate on how much or how little.  Based on what little I have read about thyroid cancer, I am inclined to get an immediate surgical consult with the thought that a rt. lobectomy at least be considered.  Both my mother and brother were hyperthyroid, treated with radioactive iodine, no thyroid cancer.  Other fatal cancers are very prevalent in my background - 3 of 4 grandparents (lymphoma, renal cell carcinoma, prostate cancer) father and brother died with lung cancer, sister died with neuroblastoma, several aunts and cousins with breast, colon, uterine cancers.  I am pretty alert for any health problems, want to get any neoplasm before it gets me.  I would appreciate any input or comments you could provide on my path report and any comments on what you would recommend as a course of action.  Thanks

I am looking for both a good endocrinologist and a good surgeon now.  I'm not sure what I will find in this area.

I wish I had some answers for you. Personally I would be talking to the specialists about it. Especially since you have a history of cancers in the family.
You have several 'interesting' pathological results, that's for sure! I certainly would be getting some expert advice on this one.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
