Help please, thyroid adenoma

I wrote a post a fews days ago that the carotid US I had found out that I had nodules in my Thyroid.
Well I had the Thyroid scan done and here is what it said.
Both Lobes in the glands are somewhat Heterogenous and contain multiple nodules. The majority of nodules measure less than i cm maximal  tranverse diameter, There is however one dominant nodule within the left lobe. This dominant Nodule measures 2.3x1.3 cm This nodule is smoothly defined however,it is solid and vascular This could represent a Thyroid adenoma. it says fine needle biopsy should be performed or considered. Who does surgery on things such as this if i were to have it taken out? An ENT or a regular Surgeon? Also being Vascular and with all the syptoms I am having such as Dizziness, fast heart rate, arrythmias very few at the moment last for months they were really bad, I feel very tired and just sick. I am afraid I am going to pass out and etc... I will see my dr tomorrow and see what the next step is, I think it will be to refer me to a surgeon, I am scared to death. i have been feeling bad for one year as of today I am half the person i use to be and I am very very very anxious. Any comments or info would be appriciated..

Well i went to my PCP and he told me to make an appointment with the ENT and they would actually do the biopsy then decide what it is, and if the whole thing needs to come out. I feel everyday though that my symptoms are getting worse and the worry does not help the situation.

Thanks, Kristi

I understand that you are scared to death.  We're here for you.  Many of the symptoms you've been experiencing might be attributed to the dominant nodule compressing or irritating nerves in your neck.

My surgeon (and the same surgeon for the rest of the entire family) was a general surgeon who was *very* experienced at thyroid surgeries.  I'd recommend that you either find a good head and neck surgeon or a general surgeon who has done *LOTS* of thyroid surgeries.  This isn't a surgery for beginners.  :-)

Since they are seeing nodules on both sides of your thyroids - and since the most common thyroid cancer has associated microcancers (which can't be seen on ultrasounds) talk to the surgeon about removing the entire thyroid and see what he/she recommends.

My best to you.  We are here for you!
