Need Help/Info for My Daughter

I recently found out that my grandmother, mother, and my mother's sister all have Graves' Disease. My grandmother told me I should go & get tested. I looked up what it was online & found that most of the symptoms fit my daughter to a T. She will be 2yrs old next month and only weighs 19.5lbs & is 31.5 in. tall. She sees a developmental specialist, GI specialist, & pulmonary specialist at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. Her pediatrician has diagnosed her with failure to thrive due to unknown medical condition. she has been tested for celiac sprue,CF, gerd, and quite a few other things and everything came back neg. She eats like a horse, very energetic, her sleep cycle is very abnormal-no matter how we try and regulate it there isn't any normalcy, i noticed her hair falling out-not in clumps but very noticable in her brush, chronic constipation-since 2mo of age. What kind of tests are there for this and how invasive are they for a toddler? she's been through so much already and i'd hate for her to have to suffer more. Any help or other ideas of what could be going on with her would be greatly welcome.

Hello my daughter was born without a thyroid gland. If there is not enough thyroid hormone in her body then it can definately cause MANY issues with development. Go to a pediatric endo. ASAP. Brain and body development depend on the appropriate amount of thyroid hormone in the first 3 years of life. Blood test can reveal an issue. If there is, then a ultra sound and or a radioactive (very small amount) iodine uptake scan can reveal more. The thyroid attracts iodine so the radiologist can see if it looks right or if it is in the correct place.  My daughter had this at 1 year and was not that bad! You really should persue this, just to be on the safe side! God Bless!

I would assume they have tested her thyroid and pituitary if they have already done everything else? If not, blood tests for those hormones would be best. There would be other diagnostic tests; mri, ct scan, ultra sound as well.

Ask her doctor if they have. The tests in my opinion are not painful, BUT she is only two so anything with a needle would be painful....:(( My son is 15 & he refuses any type of needle near him....

I hope you find answers...
