RUN - don't walk to another endocrinologist! If you can, try and do it before the surgery so the dr's can work together. My first endocrinologist was awful. He did not like me asking questions - and then botched up my FNA Biopsy! He actually pierced my trachea! When I cried and told him it hurt he told me I was a big baby. I could not talk for 5 days afterwards. My cousin, who is a nurse in a surgical unit told me why I couldn't talk and told me to report him. I'm so sorry I didn't. I found another Dr. who I really like now. BUT! When it came time for my surgery I went to a surgeon who again, I wasn't comfortable with. Again, he didn't like my questions - and was even insulted I was asking them. I had to tell him that I was sorry he was insulted, but I had questions to ask and I expected an answer! Of coarse his answers were then sarcastic. He even told me that the reason I gained so much weight had nothing to do with my thyroid! He said "the reason why you're fat is because you eat too much! It has nothing to do with your thyroid!" (I put it in quotes because those were his EXACT WORDS!) I did all my research on him - and I'm sure he's a good Dr. But I want a Dr. who sees me as a whole person - and not just a patient. I canceled the surgery and found another surgeon who I love! He did my thyroidectomy last week.
I always feel it's best to go with your gut. It will never stear you wrong!
Good luck!
Like Jessi said, you will need an endo after surgery. Go ahead with the surgery, the surgeon can start you on Synthroid then you can follow up with the endo. Looks like that surgery is pretty important based on your nodules so rip the dang thing out and have them throw it across the room (at least that's what I told my surgeon to do with mine). Here's to good help soon!!!
If endo are to get an appt with, I'd keep the appt. I'd take all medical records with me including the surgeon ones. Let him know that you have scheduled the surg. I had the same problem with endo appt. It took 2 months to get in with a good one in the mean time settled with one I could not stand. She caused me more havoc than I needed. I guess what I'm trying to say is it would not hurt to keep the appt. Especially if endos are busy and hard to get appts with. You will need an endo after surg right?
Thanks for responding. I will go with my surgery on february 19. I will worry about the rest after the surgery.Wish you a great day.

I have 3 large nodules that are highly calcified and are pushing on my esophagus. I had a RAI treatment in 2000 and was told that I am Ok because my thyroid test were OK.
I never regained my stamina after giving birth to my premature twins in 1998. My endo did not do the biopsy and told me that my nodules could be malignant because of the size and sent me to the surgeon.Suergeon ordered a CT and decided that he will remove my thyroid completly. I like the suergen and trust him. I guess that you right I am going with my surgery and will worry about rhe rest later. In my area endo docs are very busy and hard to get in.
Thanks for your input.

And I went into the surgery without having an endo. I found one months after then ended up firing him (the chief of endocrinology, no less) and finding a much better one. For me the big rush was getting the surgery over with (was concerned it was cancerous and, yeah, it was).
Why are you having surgery again (sorry, brain fog)?
I'd be hard pressed to change endos right now if you really need and want the surgery. Would think finding a new one at this point would put off your surgery. But after that's over with I would be finding a new one.
Good luck on your surgery.
