They've all said it, I'll follow suit - 3 days without med isn't long enough to feel much different from not having med, due to the long time it takes levo to get out of your system.
What were your previous test results before stopping the meds.
It will take some time for you to feel bad if you go hypothyroid as the half life of the thyroid meds is about 2 weeks.
Thank you for your responses. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after I found out about the tumor. After tumor was removed my levels dropped so had to up dose. Should just get levels checked before starting them again. Just got pills refilled yesterday.
"Since T4 meds are slow acting, you just may not have felt the effect yet".
I second that, it takes up to 1 week to feel the difference!
I gather that your hypothyroidism would have been due to the effect of the tumor on your pituitary gland. That would have caused low levels of TSH and inadequate stimulation of the thyroid gland, with resultant low levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Once the tumor was removed, your pituitary function could have gone back to normal. Were you tested for thyroid hormone levels during that time? Were you still on thyroid meds at that time? If so, what med and daily dosage?
There are two possibilities that come to mind. One is that since T4 meds are slow acting, you just may not have felt the effect yet from running out of the med 3 days ago. Second is that your hypothalamus/pituitary/thyroid system is capable of functioning normally and in response to you having no thyroid med, your pituitary may have increased output of TSH and stimulated the thyroid gland to produce more hormone. We can better assess these possibilities when you have answered the above questions.
