What are your Labs reference range. If you are estrogen by whatever means, the FTs should be done ( Free 4 and Free 3).
My reference values are
Result Name Result Abnl Normal Range
Units
TSH <0.03 l 0.38-5.50
mU/L
T3 6 l 60-181
ng/dL
Thyroxine 0.7 l 5.7-11.4
ug/dL
They have tested FT4 and FT3 as well but I do not have the values at hand, but they are very low as well.
.A few rambling thoughts from what I have read:
Are you not taking any T4 supplement with Cytomel?
When TSH is low cytomel dose might be too high.
Cytomel may decrease T4 and has a short half life, so if labs are done before cytomel dose, it will make the T3 look low as well.
It is suggested to do another test 6 weeks after the above test to confirm, thereabouts, just in case of error.
I never seen a T-3 that low - did you forget a zero? ;)
If next test levels are low, but depending how they relate to each other, could mean adrenal fatigue or other problems such as allergies, hormonal imbalance or yeast.
If pituitary function, T-4 will be much lower than the T-3. Your T-3 is much lower than your T-4.
These are my best guestamations (and not a diagnoses).
Good Luck and if you get a diagnoses let me know.
hello, my doctors think that they might have measured my T3 wrong. this morning They took blood again and I will have the results tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. They have also done a lung xray. They are thinking I mght have a tumor on my pituitary glend. If I have a tumor there it migt be a metastase from breastcancer or lungcancer. A quick scan of my lung xray showed that all was ok, but I am still waiting for final results. I wil have MRI's on thursday together with an EEG (that measures brain activity). The problem in Holland are that there are waitinglists for basically everything ! I can consider myself to be quite lucky because I have some friends that are surgeons and that are putting me ahead of all waiting lists. They are still looking for a link between my thyroid and the seizure, but I am thinking more around the line of 2 seperate events. I have been flying a lot recently and maybe mty thyroid levels where low and then a big jetlag on top of it caused my seisure. They are also testing for Antibodies to rule out Hashimotos encyphalitis. I will keep you posted.
