Protandim -- Is it helpful?

I am a distributor. My kids and I have had amazing results from Protandim. I started a friend on it who was being worked up for hashimoto's. Her overall level (T-4) was ,49 at the end of Oct (normal .58-1.64). Her TSH was at 61.73 (normal .30-5.6). Her blood work in early Dec. came back with T-4 at .68, TSH at 9.92. She's been ill for years and this is the first she had begun to feel better. Only change was the Protandim

I've been taking protandim for about 6 months. I've been able to lower my tyhroid meds. I also had a high red blood cell count for 15 years. i recently had blood work done and my red blood cell count was normal. also I've noticed that everyone around my husband and I are sick and we are not. I personally do not believe it is a scam. I take mine at night and sleep better. I know for me I will continue to take it

Hi, I'm using it as well as several people in my family and we are all doing great.  My son with ADD has more clarity and focus than he ever had on a Dr. Prescribed drug, as well as more energy and the pain in his arm has gone away.  I can sleep at night and not have horrible nightmares that I had by taking a sleeping pill, and have more clarity and energy than I have had in years as well as my arthritis pain has disappeared.  My son's brother-in-law is the researcher in the family and is very pleased with everything he has researched on Protandim and the company and has had constant pain in his leg that has gone away.  Soooo for me and mine, we won't be without it.

Hi, read your article and am interested in finding out how you are doing now after possibly almost 2 months.  My daughter-in-law has hypothyroidism and is afraid to take it.  My son is taking Protandim and has ADD.  We are finding that it has helped him so much and he has more energy and clarity, like he never had while on a drug that had numerous side affects.  Anxious to hear how you are doing now...

Because your comment is very long and unbroken by sentences and/or paragraphs, which makes my eyes blur, I couldn't read the entire thing; however, I get the gist of your post.

This is a very old thread and after a quick google of protandim, I come up with the same answer than goolarra did, 2 yrs ago. Scam seems to come up a lot. The separate ingredients of protandim can be purchased at a local vitamin store for much less than the $40/month you quoted above.

I have! And for me personally it has helped me a lot so far! I have had Hashimotos for 13 years. I was diagnosed at 20 years old and have been on levothyroxine or on synthroid daily ever since. I had tried to go all natural on iodine drops and pretty much any natural thyroid supplements I could get ahold of but unfortunately my thyroid went all the way from a 3 to a 9 when I tried to go all natural and get off of the synthetic replacement hormone pill. Then my dose for levothyroxine was increased from 125-150 and that had put me at a 1.5 overall with T3 and T4 in healthy range and blood tests healthy etc. Yet I still was experiencing so many low thyroid symptoms. I went on the HCG diet because I gained a ton of weight. The HCG shots helped me personally and I have since not gained any of that weight back except for briefly gaining a few pounds when I had to be on antibiotics for an infection which I always gain weight with for whatever reason. Anyway, I was feeling especially exhausted and sluggish recently and with full time school at the moment was frustrated that I couldn't seem to get out of this slump to have effective studying at all. One of my coworkers was takin Protandim and emailed me the link to watch the video for it because you can only get it through network marketing now for whatever reason. Anyway, I've been on protandim this week and my sluggishness and brain fog issues are gone! I don't know if everyone with Hashimotos will benefit like I have but it has been amazing! I no longer have to have an extra large diet coke or run hard for awhile or give myself a vitamen B12 shot or take really hot baths to get that brain fog sluggishness down and blood pumping to my brain more! The Protandim has removed these side effects of brain sluggishness for me! Anyway, if any other low thyroid sufferers would like more info I can email you the video. I would post the video link on here but I think things like that are blocked on here for whatever reason? I wish you could just buy protandim at a store but unfortunately it is only available now through distributors with network marketing. I buy it from my coworker and can refer her video and link to order? I am not a distributor yet. I just purchase it from her through network marketing. I personally feel like anyone who has an autoimmune disorder can hopefully benefit from Protandim:):):). It's 40$ a bottle for a months supply. I wish it was cheaper or could be allowed to be covered by medical insurance etc. I don't think it is yet? I'm still pretty new to all of this but hoping to help anyone who may possibly benefit the way I have! I am sick and tired of doctors telling me that I must not be remembering all of the food I am eating each day and to make sure I eat most of my calories in the morning and hardly any at night and to make sure to sleep enough and get enough excersize etc. I was doing all of that and still having side effects of the brain fog sluggishness tiredness and weight gain! And I was sick of having to do extreme dieting such as the HCG even though it did help me lose the weight it is an extremely difficult diet that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy unless you felt like you had no other option which is how I felt. I wish I had known about protandim earlier than this month! I can't believe the positive difference it has already made just this week! I am hopeful that this continues to be the case:):):):).

RE: Protandim and your friend with Hashimoto's ~~~  I have been taking Protandim for a couple of months and I don't know whether to attribute some changes to that, or not.  Your friend should see whether the individual ingredients are recommended for his/her ailments, which sound numerous.  ASHWAGANDHA is in the nightshade family.  Bacopa Monnieri is perhaps a T-4 stimulant, i.e., helpful for hypothyroidism.  I guess my conclusion would be to be cautious.  I'm sorry about your friend being ill.

I was wondering if you ended up trying the Protandim for hashimoto's.  I have a friend with Hashimoto's, along with dysautomnia and erytheme multiforme and a brain tumor.  Has the protandim helped you at all?

thanks for the quick reply.  
I've been reading the abstracts of the peer-reviewed articles through PubMed, university studies and publication in some serious medical journals.  The claims, of course, can be inflated and might not work for everyone.  Two aspects of the research interest me: the boost in glutathione and the affect on gene expression resulting in a boost to SOD (superoxide-dismutase) and thus antioxidant activity.
The fact that the ingredients are herbs and spices used in traditional Eastern medicine is also encouraging.
I'd love to hear from someone who's tried it -- besides a good friend whose life has been changed by Protandim.

A quick google search brings up a list of sites with words like "scam" and "claims debunked" in them.
