Question about hemi-thyroidectomy

How many people after having a hemi-thyroidectomy had to have the remaining side removed? And how long after the initial surgery? I am beginning to worry that my other side is beginning to tank out on me. The symptoms are getting to be bothersome and out of control. I thought I was improving, but I have mixed feeling about it. I have an appt. with my endo next Thursday so I guess I will know more about what is going on with me then. Any information will be appreciated. =)

I had several symptoms that all went away when my thyroid was removed, the worst was joint pain.  I had severe elbow pain for years, after the thyroid surgery, no more pain.

I had the surgery back in November...no cancer just a nodule. But now the remaining thyroid is causing havoc. Just wondering if anyone had to have a second surgery for removal.

I had a lobectomy, then after they found cancer, had a second surgery to remove the other half.  I think it depends on why you are removing the portion of your thyroid.  Do you have a suspicious nodule?
