wow........I would not want to do it again. Did you bring up the idea of exposing your other organs to more radiation? Personally, I would be reluctant, but you may be sick enough to want the other symptoms to stop. For me, it wasn't really a choice. It was like an infection that had to be dealt with or I would go insane. It's just the hypo stuff is nearly unbearable. God, I hate to have all this weight.
yea she said that because i was on PTU meds for over a year that it made me more resistant to the RDI which in turn is supposdly why it didn't work the first time - i was not given enough of the RDI i guess the first dosage was 7 millicuries and didn't work so now she wants to do 12..i dunno
yeah, I gotta say it did except that I'm now hypo. Frankly, I liked myself better when I was hyper. Skinny, got things done, organized, punctual, energetic, etc. Now I don't give a s*** about much of anything and I've gained 40 pounds. I feel like a slug. So it did address the shakiness and palpitations, but it came with some other unappealing problems. I'm surprised they would ask you to go in twice. Something doesn't sound right there, but I'm no doctor.
yea thats why my endo keeps saying too but i wonder if thats really the truth - i just have doubts about doing it a second time. the first time worked for you though?
I did the RAI treatment because I was a sick puppy. The hyperthyroidism had my chest beating at a rapid rate, my hands were trembling, my speech was affected and I was racing around like a manic. For me, The RAI was the only way to go. However, I am now hypothyroidic and getting heavier than I've ever been. At least with the hyper stuff I was skinny and energtic. Now I'm lazy and have gained about 40 pounds. My attitude now is "manyana." So the RAI worked for me, but in hindsight, I wish I had explored other options first. The endocrinologist said the RAI was the only way to get better.
