Radioactive Iodine vs. Thyroidectomy

The Methimazole I’ve been taking for my Hyperthyroidism had begun to affect my liver and I know need to decide between Radioactive Iodine treatment or surgery. Has anyone been through either procedure, is there any information such as side affects you can share with me?

Thank you Bruce, I am leaning more towards surgery, just seems easier and less side effects.

total thyroidectomy wins in my book.   Quick , easy and over with.  You arent running around radioactive waiting for the pill to take a slow kill effect to the gland.    The TT, you are in and out and get to start replacement quicker.

The surgery is a breeze.   Try to find a skilled surgeon, possibly a endocrine surgeon that mainly does thyroids and parathyroids.  IM in Dallas, 2 great ones here.
