Recovering from synthroid toxicity

A couple of months ago, I ended up in ER with acute symptoms relating to overmediation with synthroid.  I was on 175 mcg.  I was having severe tremors, palpitations, blood pressure and pulse rate were sky high, and of course then the anxiety kicked in.  Luckily I had some low dose Ativan - took 2 tablets and got to the hospital. My ECG was normal, but showed some PVC's (from the anxiety I was told). My TSH was 0.1 mU/L (Normal 0.3-5.5) Saw my doctor the next day and was told to stop my thyroid meds for a week, and we started back on 75 mcg.  The stimulatory symptoms were still really bad, and were coming in waves, so I was put on Clonazepam 0.5mg am and pm to calm my system down.   It has worked pretty good.  I have moved my synthroid dose to 88 and am doing okay, hoping that after my next blood test results we can bump it up again, as I am feeling tired (of course I know the clonazepam is sedating as well).  My lab results while on 75 mcg were TSH 30, Free T4 13 (11-22), and Free T3 2.5 (4.0-7.8).
My system seems very sensitive to any increases, so we have to move forward with dose slowly.  I am getting better, but I was suffering from adrenal insufficiency.  I am hoping that with healing this issue, it has resulted in my not needing as much synthroid.  I would really like to get off the clonazepam.  I am usually a very healthy, happy and active person, and this whole experience has really interrupted my normal life.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Read my comment to Personality Changes.  I am new to adrenal insufficiency.  stella5349 is right on.  I learned about adrenals on stopthethyroidmadness.com.  Apparently cortisol helps drive thyroid hormone into the cells.  If you go to this website and search adrenals it will blow you away.

your thyroid labs are almost bottomed out on every hormone panel you posted...

That is not enough meds based of your readings. You mention adrenal issues and needing to build those back up - are you taking HC?

When the adrenals are weak it ***** the life out of the thyroid meds and you can feel like a spike or distrubtion with those meds when the adrenals are struggling.

Balance on getting both thyroid and adrenals is very hard and requires alot of time with your doctor to take things one step at a time. This is not a quick fix at all.

Great that you are doing better.

- Please tell me if you had Addison's or only adrenal deficiency. And what did you take for it? This info would be appreciated.

thanks
