Yes do a scan as Stella told you, dentists (not all) don't know much about salivary glands.....
I believe estrelinha gave you the best information.
Push to get an answer as soon as possible.
Don't sit on the fence with this.
thanks for your comments - no pain or swelling. Just a dry feeling down left side of tongue and feel as if 'something' is irritating the tongue and salicary glans area.
I have now seen Doc and he has advised get my dentist to look further - Doc said all looked ok so he was a bit confused. Hopefully I'll get some kind of scan done.
Thanks again

Don't play with you're salivary glands, should check it again...
I sounds like you have some inflammation or something going on with the glands.
Was there a US done?
Do you have any other symptoms? Any pain while eating or after eating? Any swelling after eating? Any pain under jaw line?
I had an infected submandibular gland that had to be taken out due to sialenditis. Mine started with constant spitting and a weird feeling of tongue, almost like a scalded feeling.
Just 'bumping' in hopes of getting a response
