Support Appreciation Day ......

So many times we seem to take the great support systems we have for granted. Whether it be here or our family and friends we sometimes forget to say thank you for helping me, listening to me and being there for me and supporting me. I want to thank everyone here for the awesome support I receive here. My family understands what I go thru sometimes, but I do not think I tell them enough how much it means to me.

Have you thanked the people in your life for being there for you and supporting you. Maybe we should make a special day each month to dedicate to those who love and support us.

Lets declare every third Sunday of the month support appreciation day. What do you think?

I think it is a great idea to remind us to do something kind or just to thank the people who do support us as it is so very important to us we should let them know how much their support really means to us.

What do you think?

This is to my new family here in this community:

Thank you for welcoming me and answering all of my silly questions that you
have already more than likely answered dozens of times for others. I have learned
a lot so far, and feel like there is so much more to learn. Coming on this site and
seeing so many people who really do understand where I'm at, where I've been and
where I would like to be. Yes, most people who do not go through this do not
understand, even the doctors I have encountered on my journey. So it's such
a relief to have a place to go where I can feel like part of the family.

Again, thank you so much, everybody!

And to my family here in my "non-virtual" life, my mom and my son are my two biggest supporters. They see me going through this stuff almost every day and
are beginning to understand as time goes by. I am thankful to have them here.
I wish I had a husband/boyfriend/significant other to share this with, but, alas
I am lacking in that respect. Kind of hard to go out and find the right guy when
all you can do after working all day is come home and collapse! LOL.

Well, that's pretty much it. I have much to be thankful for, and for THAT and for
the chance to state it here, THANK YOU!!!

I've found that there are a ton of people who have no concept of what hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's entails.  For the most part, they think that as long as you take "the pill" (no, I don't mean birth control...lol) every day, things are "hunky dory" - and quite frankly, I sort of thought the same thing until I found myself having to take "the pill" every day and finding that it wasn't the "cure-all" it was cracked up to be..........

My friends on MH - all of you, but particularly Stella, with great support and ideas to try - some worked, some not.

smilerdeb - thanks for letting me vent.

Also a very special friend I've made in Weight Loss and Dieting Forum, with whom I communicate EVERY day - multiple times.....

Everyone else - thanks for putting those facts, ideas, experiences, etc out there so we can read them and see what "might" work and what "probably won't", etc.

My husband is beginning to understand more, which helps a lot.  For the most part, my time is spent "doing for" others - daughter with lupus, 90 yr old aunt, work is work and I'm expected to do my job, no matter how rotten I feel (no sympathy there) - so my MedHelp friends are doubly important....... you will never know how much I depend on and appreciate, being able to log in and find someone to answer a question.

Thanks to each and every one who has sent notes, messages, given info/advice, etc.  You are ALL fantastic................. And I thank you so VERY MUCH....

I would hope that someday I might be able to give back even a fraction of what I've gotten from this community..........

Gosh, I have a whole group of supporters and they have all been wonderful.  I do not know what I would have done without my husband...from the time the words thryoid and cancer were spoken, he has been my rock and my comedy relief.  When things got too intense, mostly while waiting in dr's offices, he could come up with the funniest things to make me laugh.  I love him.
Jen, my daughter, wow.  She keeps poking and prodding at me to get up and move.  She makes me do things just for myself...get your hair done...let's go shopping...here's a candle....go take a hot bath....She also attempts to get me out in a crowd.  "Girls night out"  "Margarita Night" "Wine Night".  She's beautiful and wonderful.
My work family has been as awesome as my own family.  I couldn't do it without them. And there is no one in the world like my Mom.  She brought me breakfast, lunch and dinner after surgery and the RAI.  If I get behind on my dishes...I come home from work and they are magically done.  She's my hero.  She survived a pretty rotten stroke and she is a colon cancer survivor.  What a lady.
And I try really hard to say thanks.  I should probably reiterate that with my husband right now though...I've been kind of grouchy and impatient lately... : )
Last but not least, there have been all of you.  You CC9 for welcoming me to the community....Goolara and Smilerdeb jumped right in there.  Later, Redheadaussie and Iris986. There have been a host of others out here that have spoken with me and encouraged me and continue to do so.  You have all kept me sane at the most insane and difficult moments.  So definitely a big thanks to all.  : )  Love ya.
