I think I am going to die!

I'm a 29 year old white male and I seriously think I have a thyroid disorder!  Here are my symptoms: dry mouth, white tounge ( no, it's not thrush), muscle pain, hot flashes, hand and foot edema, dry skin, temp that stays around 97.7f, fleeting crushing chest pain, shortness of breath at times, headache( feels like a sinus headache at times), bloating, some acid reflux and have seemed to develop a "beer belly".  I know I need to drop a few pounds ( I'm 6' tall and 245 lbs) BUT, I have always been on the heavy side. After reading this list I'm sure y'all will think I'm o sick guy but honestly I don't look sick at all.  I work in a medical office and know I need to see a Doc ASAP but to be honest I'm scared to death! My mom has Graves Disease and I know of a few other distant realtives on her side ( both male and female) that have some type of thyroid disorder. My question is ...........have anu of you had any of the above symptoms.  HELP!!!!!!!!!

Did the white tongue thing go away after you got the hypo situation taken care of?  It really freaks me out!  I swear it is going to make me crazy!

I also had the white tongue...was prescribed 'fungal lozenges', mouth ulcer gel, mouthwash etc.
You name it, I was prescribed it and I was HYPO.
I was even told it may be the SL used in toothpaste.
When things go wrong, we all search for answers but when it came to the mouth treatments...I gave up.
I used salt water in the end.

You don't have to feel like saying something is wrong. I know what you are going through - even if you find out you don't have a thyroid issue.

I have a journal on my profile simply with this same title. " I feel like I was dying."

Totally I get it.

Intresting you mention white tongue. I search for years and YES - I got the "thrush" thing said too.

It wasn't thrush in my situation either. I was extremely hypothyroid at that time and now - after alot of reading - it was b/c of that.

My thought is you go for tests.

right when you mentioned Fog I knew it was hypothyroidism. Well I went through these exact symptoms for four years. The easiest way to show my doctors that something was wrong with me was to check for my TSH levels, and also my Antithyroglubin (antibodies). Again edema, shortness of breath, tiredness, trouble sleeping are surely symptoms of hypothyroidism.  I think you should get it checked.....hope I haven't confused you there....

I forgot to mention a few additional symptoms......I am tired all the time, as soon as I get home form work I have to veg out on the sofa and always fall asleep for an hour or so. But, as odd as it may sound I have trouble falling asleep at night......I have to take 50mg of Benadryl almost everynight just to get to sleep :(   Also, I have noticed a degree of "brain fog" and seem to forget things. This is not my norm, I usually can remember every detail of the day. Man this has to stop!
