worried

Dear All,

I have just moved overseas. Before this period I also dropped 10kg in 3 months. I went from 78 down to 68, I exercised for a minimum of 2 hours a day (which was never really uncommon for me) what changed was my diet.

I have always been regular  with my menstration until this weight loss. It's now been 7 months since I've had a period which is concerning.

I had my bloods taken at work at the only thing I could see which was slightly abnormal was my FT4 is was mildy decreased with my TSH normal along with all other hormones.

Could the drop in weight and obviously stress from OS moving cause the stop in menstration.

any help would be very must appreciated.

Kate

It might be worth noting too that I went from a no sugar, no alcohol low calorie high exercise diet to........

no exercise, all burgers, lots of alcohol when I traveled to the stated before I arrived in the UK too. Which is why I gained all the weight I'd lost back.

my poor body probably doesn't know whats going on.

So - these tests were done by my friend where I am working. She is a doctor but we they were not processed the normal way due to me not being registered with the NHS yet.

however, I work within pathology so I was able to run them.

TSH 2.98 reference range 1.0-4.0 (normal)
FT4 reference range 11-22 my Valie 10.7
As you can see the FT4 is just out.

All of my other tests were normal and my hormones indicated that I was in the follicular stage of my cycle. My Estrogen was on the lower side of normal but still within it's reference range.

Kidney function, liver and electrolytes all normal.

I don't have any symptoms of low thyroid (I'm always achy because I'm always exercising).

I will go and properly get my blood taken this week and ask for a cortisol and FT3 level too.

What are your actual FT4 and TSH levels, with reference ranges?

Excess exercise, low thyroid hormones and stress can all cause absence of menstruation.
