Years and years ago when I was a young thing, living in a flat (apartment), I told my Rental agent about the amount of mould in my bathroom. It was BLACK from bath to ceiling and all across then down the other wall. Got told to open the window for better ventilation....which I always did any way as I hated the tiny room steaming up. No exhaust fan back then!
I used bleach to get rid of it, scrubbed it and obviously would have inhaled it too.
It is interesting you bring this up, as I can recall being really really really tired not long reporting the black growth.
I do wonder too, if it had any bearing on my thyroid disease/cancer all these years later.
I guess there is no real scientific research done into these things, as they are often anecdotal, after the event. Many issues cause thyroid disorder, but it seems the main ones are just pure genetic luck.
Mold has a direct impact on the thyroid - living in Hong Kong learnt about that and am actually having a Wellness Day soon where talks are being done by medical teams on the impact of mold and high humidity on our bodies. The thyroid is the shield and gate keeper of our bodies and mold causes dysfunction in the thyroid and it impacts on adults and children alike - in the forms of thyroidits, strep throat infections, Candida and some people develop white spot pigmentation or brown spots, some even develop an itchy infection just on the hairline behind the ears or on the neck. All related to fungus and yeat infections caused by mold exposure. A great tip is to wash and bath with Selsun Blue shampoo for skin problmes and any pigmentation. Here it is also known to be a trigger to ADD or ADHD as well. Just way tooo much to post all here as you can find a lot of this on the net should you have hours to spend going through all the information. Including Coconut oil into your diet will also help your body to cope with mold exposure. It has the same toxic effect to our bodies as it had one some peopel who excavated the tombs of King Tut and others in Egypt - people became ill due to mold exposure and some called it a curse - intersting if you read more about Champolion and others who explored tombs etc. As a child my hobby was to go cave hunting with a group of archeologists and am sure that is where my problem started. Inhaling all the spores. Today find I can not even enter bookshops that sell old books as the moment I open them the mold smell drains all the energy out of me in seconds. And I adore books especially books that are from many years ago - English not being my mother tongue for the life of me can not think what the term is for old books - eek this is what the brain fog does from time to time.
If the mould is 'toxic', it can cause thyroid disorders....and can cause mycotoxin poisoning.
Mould is usually caused by dampness and insufficient air circulating.
Basically an Immunologist would be able to determine whether the mould is causing your thyroid issues. I would get the mould tested to see if its toxic.
