Thyroid testing

Hi, I had a goitre and partial thyroid removed in 1997 and have been having thyroid tests done regularly since.
I have always been told they are in normal range and have alway had trouble with loosing weight and a very slow metabolism, but I am now experiencing, Palpitations, fatigue, sweats, constipation, memory loss etc. So I thought I would have my TSH and FT4 FT3 checked again. Results are as follows, 12/05/2012
TSH 3.0
FT4 15  pmol/L
FT3 4.3 pmol/L
Once again told it is normal. Cardiologist also says I am normal. I have now gone back to the doctor to have more tests on TSH T4, T3 next week.

Thanks for the advise. Just to let you know I am not on any thyroid medication and never have been even though I have only half my thyroid.
I will talk to my doctor about this and change MD's if needed.

Cheers

Your levels may be in range, but that does not mean you don't have symptoms, that is a big problem for thyroid sufferers today,Most  MD's think because eveerything is within these brackets that are outdated that all is fine, it is obvious to me, and I am not an MD that your levels are below where they need to be, and that the symptoms you are having are Hypo symptoms. Most Hypo Thyroid sufferers feel best when the TSH is supressed below 1.0 (Yours is Not) and that the Free T4 is at 50% of its range (Yours is only at 33% in its range) so yours is not and most important is Free T3 since this is the active hormone your body needs to function (Best at 66%) is only at 52%. So you need to have your medication increased a little at a time until your labs come out in this general area, after that, a good thyroid MD will tweek your medication by "How You Feel" not based on "Within Range"  Discuss this issue with your MD, if he has an ego attack and refuses to listen to your concerns, then you should find another MD who will. They will drag out your misery with this "Range" tunnelvision.  Best Wishes FTB4
