Thyrotoxic HELP

Had r thyrod removed in 2004 had l thyroid plus central neck disection in july 2010 found 1mm papilary cancer they are treating with increased thyroxine. Have become thyrotoxic my tsh is <0.01 my free t4 33.9 my free t3 7.3. Have dropped thyroxine from 200 to 150mg become weak, dizzy,heart palp,sore eyes and chesty today, slight fever but  gp thinks may something viral coming on endo away am worried. Iam 35 mother of 4

Thank you. Tried Nurse on call cant get through so have called endo and waiting blood reults were that i am thyrotoxic just unsure what that means. I am very weak, dizzy sore eye, palputations they have lowered me from 200 to 150 .just may have to play the waiting game. Just wish I could pick up my 1 yr old and stop shaking am so weak.

It really does not sound very good what you are going through right now. I would be concerned you are going into thyrotoxicosis.

I am stunned they are treating you with MORE thyroxine. Usually radiation ablation is done then you take the thyroxine.

I would call Nurse On Call on 1300 60 60 24 explain what is going on and see what they advise. (it's free call all across Australia) I have called them and they are fantastic.

I had similar a few years ago and suspected thyroid storm, got to hospital and I had a virus of unknown origin. However, it really is not worth not knowing for sure.

You may have to stay on the lower dose for a while and get re-tested, but it does take time for the levels to drop.
