Tirosent first week headache ?

I was taking 125 brand Synthroid, began taking 125 Tirosent Aug 23rd, all went well, then Aug 26th I began sneezing, severe nose congestion, I began developing a mild frontal headache, figured sinus.  Tuesday the 28th, my nose congestion began to clear up, but headache persist, then Thursday nose is clear, headache was unbearable, nothing is helping, Extra strength Tylenol, Advil, Tylenol severe sinus.  I've had ice pack on my forehead constantly.

I read Tirosent med info, which list headache as overmedicated.  But then thought, I've only taken a week.

Was wondering if anyone developed severe headache, first week taking Tirosent ?  Those taking Tirosent have headache, then headache went away after awhile.  Other then headache, I'm doing well on the med.  Thanks for feedback.

Hi AJ... The headache could have been caused by the sinus issue/sneezing and could just take time to go away.  I know I don't get a headache very often, but when I do, it takes forever for it go away, even after the original cause has been removed.  Of course, not everyone is the same as me...  :-)

It's not unusual for symptoms to get worse or for new symptoms to appear when changing doses or starting a new medication because it takes time for the body to adjust to something different.  These, typically, go away within a short period of time (a few days to a few weeks) of starting the medication.

Some people also find that they have to start on a lower dose of Tirosint because it has no fillers/binders so its delivery is more complete than pill type medications (i.e. it's dissolved and absorbed better).  I'm not sure that would apply to you since you've been on higher doses of levothyroxine, but if the headache isn't relieved soon it might be a good thing to call your doctor and discuss it with him.

Hi Barbara, thanks so much.  Information helpful.  Headache is finally subsiding, slowly but surely.
