The normal ranges should be on the lab report. Basically, as far as antibodies are concerned, you shouldn't have any. However, there is a range that is considered "normal". My lab uses <35 for TPOab and 3000 and TPO is 944. Once antibodies appear, the numbers can get very big.)
It's interesting, though, that her dad was hyper, and she's hypo.
thank you so much. Her dad had graves for 5 years and now he is hypo.I guess she got it from him.maybe?? where can you find the normal values for the TGab and TPOab for a teen.
My guess is that ATHYG is what we usually call TGab (thyroglobulin antibodies) and ATHYP is what we usually call TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies). These are both elevated and indicate that your daughter has Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Initial stages of Hashi's can be very difficult. Often there is a swing from hyper to hypo. Her TSH was very low indicating hyper, but her FT4 is also low, indicating hypo. BP was high on the systolic, but low on the diastolic. Pulse is a bit high.
He stopped the meds because she seems to be going a bit hyper, which can happen with Hashi's in adults...complicated when other hormones are also kicking in with a 14 yo.
Ask for free T3 (FT3) which will give a more complete picture of what's going on with her thyroid.
I think I'd want to have her FT3, FT4 and TSH retested sooner than 8 weeks. Her hypo symptoms (weight gain, fatigue, etc.) will get worse if she's not on meds.
Perhaps she needs Synthroid in an even lower dose? 12.5 mcg perhaps? Just a suggestion...not a doctor...just a fellow Hashi's sufferer.
are these test results ok ?? Can any one help me
