Have you had any of the antibody tests? TPOab, TGab and TSI?
I'd probably chalk up the loss of appetite to the Xanax, then. Once you get on anti-thyroid meds (or other treatment for hyper), you'll probably be able to discontinue the Xanax, since the treatment will lower your HR.
Just two more days...
I am going for a U/S and uptake Thursday.
I was eating a lot at first but started taking Xanax for a couple of weeks and last couple of days have had very little or no appetite.
Yes I found a couple of sites that said it can increase or decrease appetite and affect weight.
I chose not to take a beta blocker as my B/P is already pretty low.
I have not been on meds for almost a month now. Was taking a small dose of levothyroxine but was stopped after a trip to the ER.
TSH 0.009. I don't remember the ref. range.
Do you mean that you found information that Xanax can cause loss of appetite and weight change? Usually, when hyper (or overmedicated), you can eat like a horse and still lose weight.
I don't know what your other issues might be, but you might ask your doctor about a beta blocker as opposed to the Xanax to lower your HR.
Has your dose been adjusted since those labs? How long ago? From what to what? Do you know if you have Hashi's and/or Graves'? I don't usually put a lot of stock in TSH, but I am wondering if it's low enough to indicate Graves'.
FT3 5.94 1.71-3.71
FT4 1.80 0.70-1.48
I was first dx'd with hypo was on a small dose of levothyroxine then went hyper (think I have been swinging back and forth for a while before dx'd)
I am currently on Xanax for high HR. I just found a couple of sites that it can cause loss of appetite and weight change.????
Loss of apetite is a common symptom of hypo. In fact, the false claim that "people don't gain weight when hypo" is often supported by the argument that their appetite tends to be suppressed by being hypo, so they don't eat enough to gain weight. Baloney, of course, but lack of apetite is a symptom.
I know you've probably posted labs before, but please do so again with ranges. On what basis were you diagnosed as "hyper"? What meds do you take?
