They can tell Graves' with doing TSH and both F/Ts.
Hyperthyroidism and Graves' are treated the same.  Graves' is Hyperthyroidism  (Hyper/Graves').  However you can be hyperthyroid without being Graves', but you can't be Graves' without being hyperthyroid.
So, in a sense, it doesn't really matter if you are Graves' as far as treatment goes.

Graves' and Hyperthyroid share some of the same symptoms, as well as other health conditions.  So it is hard to distinguish between them.  That is, to tell if symptoms are from Graves, Hyperthydism or other health conditions.

Stress is not good for Hyper/Graves' and will bring the disease to the forefront, that is, out of hiding, and also will make symptoms worse, as well as smoking, and is bad for TED (thyroid eye disease).

You stated that your are being treated for hyperthyroid? Which I assume you are taking ATDs medication. So that would explain normal levels.  However, if you are not being treated as yet and levels are normal, then you do not have thyroid issue.  You can have nodule with normal levels and without being thyroid.  Normally, though, nodules don't come with all the symptoms you discribed, unless hyper-function, in which case would relate in abnormal levels.

You didn't give us much to go by. You will have to wait and see what the hospital comes up with.  I assume they will be doing other test such as up-take and scan, which will tell if you have nodule and which type.

Good Luck.
