If your vitamin D levels are low, then they should test calcium levels before prescribing Vitamin D, particularly as you've not been feeling well.
If calcium levels are high (even slightly high) they would have to do some more testing to rule out parathyroid problems.
If calcium levels are normal, it is fine to take vitamin D supplement.
You can sall your Md's office and request a copy of the results from the blood work, you should not have to wait three weeks, what are the pills she gave you? are thay Vitamin D supplements or did she prescribe a thyroid medication? Thanks FTB4
FTB4 I don't know I didn't think to ask cause I was kind of in shock cause I had lots of tests done the past 4 month trying to figure out whats wrong with me and each time all the tests would come back normal so it was a shock to me that this test came back low, but I will ask her when I see her again in 3 weeks.
SassySharon-No all they tested me for was my vitamin D levels
Did they test your calcium level?
As thyroid sufferers it seems a problem that most of us have had low Vitamin D, because we have a problem absorbing it the natural way, as long as you take a supplement or some have injections if your levels are real low. You should be fine, what were the levels and reference range from your blood work? Good Luck FTB4
