What came first

Does anyone have a clue if the tinnitus loud whistle in my ears was caused by the thyroid being hypo, or from taking the levo to balance it out?

I have had a loud ringing in my left ear since two weeks after I started the LEVO.  My T4 is now at 1.74 and ive backed a little off the meds, but the ringing still has not gone away.

I have had it for a long time - it comes and goes, but never goes entirely. I never knew it was caused by hypothyroidism. I just looked it up on the internet. And there it was. Hallelujah, I am not going deaf!

i had it bad before i was on any thyroid meds. its almost gone now. just low sometimes. i think it has to do with your levels being off.

I know hypothyriodism can cause ringing in the ears. I suppose meds could effect some persons in this way also but I would think it is a symptom of hypo. I know I have certain symptoms with certain levels so maybe your at a level that is causing this. Do you know your TSH and FT3 & FT4 along with your reference ranges your lab uses?
