If you've had a nodule surgically removed with no other thyroid problems...did it make you better?

Has anyone had a thyroid nodule removed with while having no other thyroid problems diagnosed, and had all your symptoms go away after surgery? my endo said this happens sometimes.

I've had a myriad of now nearly debilitating symptoms for the last 5 years, and have finally found a GOOD doctor who found a 1/2" nodule on my thyroid just by feeling (not sure how these other doctors, who chose to tell me I was CRAZY and imaging my symptoms didn't feel this.). The doctor I just saw said it's obvious to him that the nodule has been there for a long time...probably 5 years. My symptoms include everything from crazy hairloss to unexplained tachycardia, MAJOR fatigue, MAJOR hip joint/leg bone pain, a weird rash on my stomach, very thin (i can't gain weight even though i eat tons of carbs and cookies), tingling in hands and feet, and a lot of other stuff. I'm barely 24 years old. i was very healthy and active before all this started.

Anyways, my endocrinologist did a biopsy of the nodule, and tested for hashimotos. he thinks this is at least hashimotos plus possibly some other stuff. he said we'll take out the nodule if the results are suspicious, malignant, or inconclusive.

if all my bloodwork and tsh and everything and the test for hashimotos come back normal, he said that in some people if you just take out the nodule, they feel better. they don't know why it happens, but it does.

i'm concerned my bloodwork will come back normal as i've had my tsh and t4 tested before and they're always normal. with so much riding on finally finding SOMETHING, i'm worried the hasimotos test and everything else will come back as normal too. in that case i can either try an inmmunologist or something (whichever he suggests I go to, immunologist is my guess only), or make the move to take out the nodule and see if i feel better afterward. what i'm wondering, for reassurance if i have to make that decision, is what other people's experiences have been like. has anyone had symptoms similar to mine and had normal bloodwork, and had their nodule taken out and had all their symptoms go away afterwards?

here is a link to my post on all my symptoms. it's detailed. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Undiagnosed-Symptoms/no-one-can-figure-out-whats-wrong-24-f-symptoms-are-debilitating-PLEASE-help/show/1376807?personal_page_id=1797777#post_6282838

also...just curious, is 1/2" nodule big, small, or medium?

Thank you for replying! Was the joint pain a kind of pain that did not improve with any position and was an intense, deep inside your bone kind of pain? That's what I get in my hips.

I got my biopsy results today and it is benign. She said it may still need to come out though. I'm thinking it probably should come out no matter what, just incase it is a partial culprit in some of these symptoms.

I don't have the joint pain all the time. Sometimes it's every day, sometimes it's every few weeks, or even a month with none.

I can only tell you that I had a lot of the same problems, especially joint pain in my elbows that I thought was tennis/golf elbow, I had it for more than 5 years, stopped playing golf, couldn't get rid of it.  I couldn't pick up a gallon of milk with 1 hand.  After my thyroid was removed, the pain went away within a few days and I have had no more problems.  I also had Hashi's, but it turned out to be cancer, too.  I don't know if the nodules were the cause of my symptoms, but all went away after they came out, cancer or not.
