Where do you feel your strangling feeling with Hashimoto's?

If you have a strangling feeling in your throat due to Hashimoto's or a thyroid issue, where do you feel it? Do you only feel pressure down low in your throat (where a t-shirt would touch)?  Or do you feel pressure around the middle of your neck or under your chin?  Do you ever feel chin numbness?

Thanks!

Yes I do,  I thought it was just me.  It feels like someone has there hands around my neck cutting off my air supply.  I told my doc this and he lowered my synthroid, not sure if this was the right thing ro do and having second thoughts. I boosted it back up myself this am due to joint pain returning.

i like to sleep on my stomach.  when i have thyroid issues, i can't have the pillow touch my neck because it feels strange.  i therefore sleep on my stomach without a pillow.

i feel the most discomfort at my adam's apple.

I couldn't believe someone finally who has the same symptoms.  I hope you get this and will tell me did you EVER stop feling strangled? Mine has been going on for 7 months. I just want to lay down all the time as th strangling feeling is not as bad for some reason without the gravfity.  Been on Levothyroxine now just one month.  I would like someone to tell me this will eventually go away!

I wish I could say the strangling feeling has gone away, but unfortunately it hasn't completely. Levothyroxine has seemed to help a bit, though, Hang in there, and if you find anything to make it stop, let me know!

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2009 and right before I was diagnosed I felt a strangling feeling in my throat (seems like middle of my neck) and fatigued. When I started synthroid the feeling went away. Well, 9 months ago I felt the strangling sensation again along with fatigue. So, naturally I thought it was my thyroid again, but 2 general physicians and 1 endocrinologist said my thyroid levels were fine. I, also, went to 1 other general physician and 2 ENTs. Some doctors have said nothing is wrong with me and some kept forgetting about me. Yesterday, I went to the second ENT who said I have acid reflux AND allergies. He said the allergies are sending mucus into my throat and along with acid reflux is causing the strangling sensation. Acid reflux also can cause fatigue. This is weird, because no one in my family has allergies and I have not felt the strangling sensation between 2009 and 9 months ago. But, I have to go back to see what I am allergic to during 3 appointments (yay), and I will get back to y'all if the allergy pills and acid reflux pills work!

Please post your thyroid test results, along with their reference ranges shown on the lab report, so that we can better assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
