Armour or Synthroid

Okay, I know this has probably been asked a lot before but I wanted to see any current thoughts. Which works better most often for Hash's when you are bouncing back and forth---Armour or Synthroid?

Thanks!

That sounds like a reasonable place to start.  T4-only meds, like Synthroid, are usually where our doctors start us off.  If that works (which it does for many people), fine, if not, you can get creative later.  Don't forget to get your labs done every six weeks to start.

I am pretty much bouncing around from 1.9-2.0........to 5.00.  Have lots of symptoms. We were going to try 25 of Synthroid?

Goolarra is right.

Find out where you labs are at and if you are not running up to par after a while on one med - try another mix.

I know this won't help much, but it's all very highly individual.  Some people do well on each.  It's an experiment.  All I can recommend is that if one isn't working for you, try the other.  You can also try a combination of Synthroid and a synthetic T3 med (Cytomel).

Do you have current FT3, FT4 and TSH results?  Also the reference ranges for FT3 and FT4?  This might help us comment more intelligently.
