what do the numbers mean
my tsh is 5.22, my t4 is 1.0. i feel like i have swollen glands . i have to get a biopsy. should i be nervous.
Your TSH is elevated, indicating you are a little short on thyroid hormones.
Your Free T4 is a little low, but not awful. It also says you are a little low on hormones. You are slightly hypothyroid.
The ultrasound showed nodules, and one or more of them warrants further investigation via FNA biopsy.
Should you be nervous?
I would be, but I am phobic of needles. There is some discomfort with an FNA procedure, but I cannot speak from experience.
It is easy for me to sit here and tell you not to worry about what the result of the FNA might be until you have the report. It's not MY FNA we're talking about. It's not MY nodules we're discussing.
I can point out the obvious, that worrying about the unknown is a waste of energy and bad for your health. I should know. I do it all the time. LOL!!
Good luck with the FNA. Try not to let your imagination make things worse than they are.
Let us know what the results are.
