I wonder if my Xyrem has caused my body to not metabolize my thyroid med?

I had my entire thyroid gland removed so I've been hypothyroid for 20+ years; started Xyrem 6 years ago. This past 10 months my TSH has gone from 10.8 to 0.14 (hyperthyroid). I wonder if my Xyrem has caused my body to not metabolize my thyroid med?

Has your TSH always been 10.8 ever since you had your thyroid removed?  That's still pretty high; have you had any symptoms of being hypo at that level?

Have you ever had Free T4 and Free T3 tested?  If so, could you also post the last of those results so we can see how they correlate with the TSH?

TSH of 0.14 is quite low, which would indicate that you might be metabolizing your thyroid med better than you had been previously.  It's important to note, however, that one is only hyper if you have hyper symptoms.

Could you please list any symptoms you might have at this time?

Can you please tell us what thyroid medication you're on and what dosage?

I'm not familiar with an interaction between thyroid medications and Xyrem, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

You said you've been on Xyrem for 6 yrs and your TSH just dropped in the past 10 months, so most likely there's another reason for the drop, but we'd need to know your Free T4 and Free T3 levels over the period as well.
