a few questions

Does a slightly swollen thyroid automatically mean you have a goiter?

is the swollen thyroid the reason it feels like there is a popcorn kernel stuck in my throat? as well as tightness and breathing problems?

can your thyroid swell from a headcold? or a virus?

yes... a goiter simplye means an enlarged thyroid.

a swollen thyroid COULD be the reason you feel like you have something stuck in your throat, but it is not necessarily the reason.

your thyroid can swell from a virus or cold... this is called subacute thyroiditis and is very unusual and usually very painful.

Don't know about the ears... I have the same thing and have for years and now that my thyroid is gone, I still have it.

It is more common for women to have thyroid issues than men, but certainly not rare for people in general to have thyroid dysfunction.  Are you consulting a dr?

oh, also, I feel like i always have to pop my ears, and they do feel kind of plugged, but I don't have trouble hearing, does this have to do with my thyroid?

today, I had the worst breathing problems, I was tempted to use a friends inhaler, but was afraid that might not be a good idea?
