can you help me interpret my ultrasound report?

The thyroid gland is homogeneous in echotexture. The vascularity is normal.

The isthumus is enlarged to 6 mm. The right lobe is enlarged to 5.0 x 2.0 x

1.6 cm and the left lobe measures 4.7 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm.

No discrete solid or cystic lesions are seen within the right or the left

lobes of the thyroid.

There is no evidence for lymphadenopathy in the visualized neck.

Impression:

1. Unremarkable thyroid ultrasound.

The report indicates that your thyroid is normal - the texture (homogeneous) is all the same and though the isthmus (middle section of the thyroid) and right lobe are slightly enlarged, you have no nodules or cysts.

Basically, the Impression says it all:  “Unremarkable thyroid ultrasound”

What prompted you to have the ultrasound?  Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or had any thyroid blood work done?  If so, what tests were done and were the results within normal ranges?  You’re welcome to post the results, with reference ranges (which vary from lab to lab), if you’d like to have those evaluated as well.

Do you have symptoms of a thyroid condition?  If so, what symptoms?
