If the report says the lump is on the left, it sounds like the technician made a mistake when she said the lump was on the right. If there were 2 lumps, it would say that on the report.
This is why the technicians are NOT supposed to tell patients what they see during a scan - because they aren't radiologists and what they tell you may not be accurate. I've had technicians tell me all kinds of things that did not come back on reports.
I have a multi-nodular goiter and none of my nodules could be felt from the outside; it's not that big a deal for that to happen. If you're palpating your neck in an effort to feel that nodule, you may be making things worse.
