earache and thyroid

I went in to see the doctor because my ear had a dull pain. After seeing the Ear Nose ans Throte Doctor and doing steroids for 8 weeks there was no change... He sent me for a CAT scan and it came back that there was nothing wrong with my ear ...but, there was a nodule on my thriod.... I then went to see the thriod doctor and she did a biopsy on the nodule... She stuck me 6 times to pull a sample out... on the sixth try my ear exploided with the same pain ... we were both surprised .... she now has me on Synthroid to reduce the module ... but the pain in my ear is persistant... no pain in my throat....is there a nerve where this nodule is ????
still in pain on my left ear ... same side as the nodule  have been on synthroid now for 8 weeks

I had severe pain in my right ear when pregnant with my first child. It was excruciating! I had many many symptoms of thyroid disease at the time, severe hair loss, BEFORE the baby was born, etc. I was not diagnosed for another 19 years!
My blood pressure was very high at the time and it took a few months for it to go away. It was later when my last child was born 16 and half years ago, did I have a similar pain again. Again I was having thyroid symptoms but still undiagnosed. (Rotten doctors!)
Often when the thyroid is enlarged it can push all the nerves, lymph glands etc to one side. There are many nerves which run under the jaw and up the side of the face and the ear, and it is these they try to avoid when removing a thyroid, as it can cause paralysis of the face. So it is very possible you are having pain due to a nerve being pushed or compressed.

Good luck!
