epitheleal cells following pap carcinoma, TT and RAI

On a baseline US 9 months after TT for Pap Carcinoma, 7 months after RAI for same, an FNA was done due to size of lymph node and suspicious stuff in the thyroid bed. FNA showed stuff in thyroid bed was scar tissue with no thyroid cells, and enlarged lymph node had not malignant cells.  Good news.

Dr. said ephitheleal cells were present in the lymph node, and he is recommended it be reviewed by doc in Philadelphia who did the surgery. What are epitheleal cells, can they become cancer. Could this be an early sign of mestastes? If so, how do they treat.

Last year I had 3 nodules, all about 1 cm I think. Two were papillary carcinoma , one cystic.  One had grown extra-thyroid, but didn't seem to have gotten far, non-tehcnially speaking.

Dr. Doug Fraker is the surgeon. The endo is Dr. Susan Mandel.  They're at University of Pennsylvania.

Good luck with it all. Thanks for writing back.

Hi Joan~

I wish I had some answers for you but I do not.  i am new at all of this.  I was wondering who your doctor in Phila. is?  I have a 4 cm nodule adn I just saw Dr. Keane at Jefferson the other day.  They could not get any cells for the FNA and I have to now have a US FNA.  Also, how big was your tumor.

I wish you all the luck!!!

Take Care!
