Anyone knowledgeable about hyperparathyroidism?

This does not fit under thyroid, but I am hopeful someone can offer some good advice.  I am a 34-year-old female, and I have passed kidney stones for the past 14 years.  I have passed at least 15-20 and I have seven developing in my kidneys as I write this.  Over the past 9 months, I have been very tired and have had increasing trouble sleeping.  I thought it was due to kids not sleeping through the night, but they finally made it and now I can't.  I have many more headaches now, and I have also had increasing PVCs which resulted in anxiety.

I just saw my urologist today for a follow up on some blood and urine tests.  My blood calcium was slightly elevated (10.3 with 10.2 being the upper limit).  All other urine and blood levels were within normal range.  My urologists says that my calcium is not THAT high, and we should just do a checkup in six months.

I have felt pretty bad for the past several months.  I realize that anxiety could contribute, but I find it hard to believe that as the sole explanation.  I am very disappointed that my urologist did not want to check my parathyroid hormone level, given my calcium reading and my history of stones.  I don't know if I should push him to do it, or try to get a second opinion with an endocrinologist.  Any of you have experience or suggestions?  Thanks for your help!

Definitely talk to an endocrinologist if you're concerned. I too have just started investigating HPT and was having more tests done today to check calcium in blood and the PTH. I was pointed this way after finding a Vit D issue  (after 3 months of unexplained symptoms).
How it was explained to me was this doesn't just get better, so waiting for long periods of time does nothing. If they are hyper, they will continue to be hyper. If its effecting your life etc they just take one of the PTs out, and then you're fixed.

Interesting, I was just yesterday diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism.  My Ca was 10.6 which by some labs is normal, albeit highest normal.  I also have many many PVC's... for years.  I had my PTH check and it was 75, 65 being top of normal.  Thus, my diagnosis of HPT.  If my DR did not do the PTH check then I'd just have mild hypercalcimeia.  Even tho his rec is to check in another 12 months, I'll request to recheck at 3 & 6 months. IMHO, I would suggest you have the PTH levels checked.

A  trip to the endo would be advised.  Get a full panel blood test to make sure your TSH level is where it should be.
