Thanks, I'm feeling a bit better about things reading these replies : )
From personal experience: My voice deepened considerably when hypo. It was never squeaky, but I used to be able to make calls for my husband and just say I was him. It was never questioned. My voice has gone back to normal since on meds.
oops and T4 free range 0.50-1.26 value 0.18
T3 range 0.64-1.57 value 0.37
T4 range 5.28-9.87 value 1.21
But my TSH is high with range of 0.340-5.600 and value at 53.412.
I've never understood this stuff...
And right now in search of a doctor to help me out
Hoarseness can sometimes be related to being hypothyroid. Since we hear from so any members that are still under medicated and hypo, after having RAI or a TT, I suspect that low Free T3/Free T4 levels could be the cause. Please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report. Also, do I understand that you are taking no thyroid med at this time?
Endocrine effects
Underproduction of thyroid hormone is characterised by, among other things, a deepening of the voice. This occurs through the thickening of the vocal folds as a result of the deposition of mucopolysaccharide, which lowers their fundamental frequency and hence the note produced. This will return to normal with appropriate thyroxine replacement."
