Could you please help me decipher these ultrasound results?? Doctor states "looking like a HIGH probability of cancer" sending me to Endo and wants me "in ASAP" .... just wanted your opinions....--- Thanks Report listed below !
REASON FOR EXAM: Nontoxic single thyroid nodule
TECHNIQUE: Grayscale, color flow and pulse Doppler obtained
Exam Date 09/07/2017
EXAM: US-SOFT TISSUE HEAD AND NECK (THYROID)
FINDINGS: The isthmus measures 9.3m and has a nodule measuring 12.3 x 6.9 x 1.1cm
The right thyroid lobe measures 2.9X5.9X2.4cm. Deep within the mid-portion of the lobe is a 19.2 x 11.3 x 4.8mm heterogenous hypoechoic nodule
Stippled echogenic foci could represent small calcifiactions. Follow up with biopsy is indicated here. The lesion s hypoechoic to surrounding parenctyma and roughly isoechoic to overlaying strap muscles
Nodule #2 is likely a colloid cyst measuring 7.5 x 5.6 x 6.9mm. Immediately inferior to nodule #1 is a third nodule measuring 11.7 x 10.3 x 11.5mm and is roughly spherical.
The left thyroid lobe measures 1.8 x 5.6 x 2.3 cm. Nodule #1 is a 6.1 x 3.6 x 5.6mm solid nodule that is taller than it is wide and can be followed at this time. Posterior to this is nodule #2 measuring 10.1 x 5.5 x 6.9mm that is heterogeneous. Hypoechoic and taller than it is wide, A central echogenic focus could represent a calcification. This is a solid nodule and should be biopsied. Nodule #3 is a faintly hyoechoic 5.2 x 3.8 x 4.1mm nodule
IMPRESSION: Each thyroid lobe and Isthmus has solid nodles, see above
