do free t4 and free t3 test too. then only can tell. tsh is a poor marker. it doesn't tell anything dosing medicine based on tsh value alone is stupidity.
Is TSH the only thing that was tested? It's elevated, indicating hypothyroidism, but decisions should not be made, based on TSH, alone. You should try to get Free T3 and Free T4 tested, as well. Those are the actual thyroid hormones and give you a much better idea of actual thyroid status.
Typically, when one is hypothyroid, one is prescribed a medication called levothyroxine, which will lower the TSH and increase Free T3 and Free T4, which will, in turn, alleviate symptoms.
