I have Thyroid surgery twice;no longer have any thyroids. Now I have hypothyroidism. The Dr. has me on Levothyroxine  0.112 MG. He runs my levels often.I am always tired;depressed, gaining weight,I exercise often. Someone had suggested to me that I should not take the generic Synthyroid;that they to were to having the same problems that I had mentioned above; When their Dr. put them on( THE SYNTHYROID )not the generic ,it had made a difference on them.Would you know about this; or maybe suggest to me a different prescription that may help me ?

The number one, most important thing for you is to find a good thyroid doctor.  By that I mean one that will treat you clinically by testing and adjusting the biologically active thyroid hormone levels, Free T3 and Free T4, as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results, and especially not TSH.  Many of our members say that symptom relief required Free T3 to be in the upper third of its reference range and Free T4 to be around the middle of its range.

If you will post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.

Some of us do much better on name brand meds. Is your Dr checking all of your levels? TSH, FT3, FT4 and antibodies? We also have a wonderful Thyroid forum here at Medhelp. I would post this same question there too. The people are extremely knowledgeable about everything thyroid related.
